High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) For Prostate Tissue Ablation

High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) For Prostate Tissue Ablation

High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a totally non-invasive, radiation-free outpatient procedure for the treatment of prostate cancer. HIFU’s robotic technology uses high-intensity ultrasound waves to precisely treat only the diseased part of the prostate – without damaging surrounding tissue. HIFU can be performed under general anesthesia or spinal block and last about 1 hour, with the patient going home on the same day. Patients who have localized prostate cancer (stage T1 or T2) with a small volume of disease, those who are unfit for surgery or who would like to explore alternative options to preserve their quality of life may be eligible for this procedure.
