Robotic-Assisted Bladder Cancer Surgery Reduces Blood Loss, Hospital Stay

A pilot trial comparing open radical cystectomy to robotic-assisted laparoscopic radical cystectomy in bladder cancer has found that robotic-assisted procedures resulted in decreased blood loss and shorter hospital stays. The findings, led by Dipen J. Parekh, M.D., professor and chairman of urology, are published in the December online issue and February 2013 print issue of The Journal of Urology.
